Snapshot No. 680-684

684. A break of rainy days

A break of rainy days brought us to a nearby old castle park.

There, dragonflys and herons caught my eyes and I took the shots.

The first, dragonfly;

Oo-siokara tonbo Top three sio-kara tonbo family are;

Sio-kara tonbo
Oo-sio-kara tonbo
Sio-ya tonbo

A black color only at the tail tip indicates that this is either oo-sio-kara tonbo or sio-ya tonbo.

Further, short and thick black lines are clearly seen at its wing tips. This looks to suggest the oo-sio-kara tonbo.

BUT, as the individual difference is fairly common, it is difficult to say with certainty.

Next, herons;

Large herons had raised their chicks since still cold time on the tree tops at around the entrance of the history museum.

Now the chicks became large and their crying, guwaa, guwaa, sounds very noisy.

As there are dozens of large nests at the tops of tall trees, there must be more than 100 fledglings in the area.

Ao-sagi This shows a nest of ao-sagi.

As the bird is large, I thought it is a parent bird.

The upper and lower beaks of parent birds are to be both yellow, while the upper beak of the one in the photo is grey. Thus this is to be a fledgling.

683. Sprouted!

Avocado Avocado seeds have sprouted.

In early last autumn, I placed the seeds in a cup and checked if they germinate. As winter came, I buried them in the pot as in the photo.

At last, when least expected, they sprouted.

682. A rain morning

A rain front and a typhoon brought here heavy wind and rain from yesterday.

Those households with a dog must have had a hard time depending on respective circumstances.

Kuroganemoti A shot of the kuro-gane moti at my place, this morning. A blue area at the upper right corner is a part of my umbrella.

The flowers were gone and just changed to the seeds.

681. A brave chick

It is about the time when sijuukara chicks in the bird box at my place leave the nest. Their chirpings have become larger and larger.

I guess five or six fledglings are in the box. One of them, with largest chirping, has left the nest alone in the rain this morning.

Sijyuukara The photo shows that chick.

It can't fly well and managed to come to the entrace side. Here, it is asking for the feed with big chirpings.

As the other chicks are still in the box, the parents must take care of both.

Every year, I have been reminded of the fact that raising offspring is hard for the birds, and humans as well.

680. A good spirit

Nanaido koen lighting fixture An objet glaring at surroundings in the fresh greens. Actually it is a lighting fixture. At a nearby square.

I like very much the spirit to spend time and money for this type of design at this time when most are function-oriented industrial products.
